Background
Rexel Group is a leading distributor worldwide of electrical supplies. With hundredsof branches in Australia, Rexel’s sales managers travel frequently to key cities and remote locations. With this amount of travel, Rexel approached Concierge BT to refine its travel policy in order to provide additional flexibility for it’s travellers and consolidate reporting and policy procedures.
Objectives
- More transparency in travel spend through regular reporting.
- Cost Savings: Rexel needed to reduce travel costs as this was an area that had increased significantly in prior years.
- Compliance – Rexel understood that it’s travel policy needed to change to improve on ‘leakage of their travel’ through consolidation of their travel spend.

- Take a long term strategy to achieve results, mainly due to the complexity of the many divisions.
Results
- Provision of a streamlined invoice solution whereby Concierge BT invoice all air, hotels and cars at point of sale (at time of ticketing), thus allowing Rexel to allocate the funds at time of invoice (and not have to wait 6 weeks before Concierge BT received the invoice from the hotel/car supplier)
- Average Ticket Costs have decreased by 27% within 2 years
- Through quarterly reviews with Concierge BT, Rexel now understand their total travel spend and where further efficiencies can be made.

- Rexel Group is a complex account in that they have many different divisions who all have different needs.
- Some divisions merely travel to capital cities whilst others have sales staff on the road travelling to regional and remote locations to service their customers and branches.
